The first year was very hard for the Pilgrims, and only fifty of the original one hundred passengers【C1】______. Conditions began to【C2】______in the spring of 1621. The Pilgrims planted a large crop and in the fall, they had a good harvest. Therefore, they were able to get enough fresh meat【C3】______their lack【C4】______skill or experience in hunting and fishing.
