Mr.Tuner had been a captain for many years. He was good at
shooting (射击). In the army he taught new soldiers to shoot. Then he left the
army and began to work in a bank as a night watchman. He worked hard and caught
quite a few thieves. He was given a raise and got a week’s holiday. He decided
to go to the capital and buy something necessary for his wife and
children. In the train a young man was sitting next to
Mr.Turner. The young man talked too much and never paid attention to others’
responses (反应). When the train was getting to the London Station, he began
telling Mr.Turner a new story of his. "Last Sunday I went hunting in the
mountains and I shot a deer, five foxes, nine bears and..."
"What a good hunter you are!" Mr.Turner looked cold and said, "I don’t have such
a skill(本领)! "Can’t you shoot, sir" asked the young
man. "Yes," answered Mr.Turner, "but I can’t tell a
lie." What did Mr.Turner mean by "skill"
