Many dogs were going to be killed. A group of people that help animals heard about this. They wanted to do something to help the dogs. The animals were all at a pound. A pound is a place where animals without owners are kept. Lots of the animals were very sick. The pound needed to be cleaned. If it was not cleaned the healthy animals would get sick too. Something had to be done to help them. The dogs could not stay at the pound when it was being cleaned. They needed to leave for a few days.
