问答题

Translation in recent years is crowned as an urgently needed industry, which has undoubtedly started an upsurge of studying fever. People study translation with various reasons. Generally speaking, mainly three facets force people to learn translation nowadays.
To begin with, China’s striving for modernization and globalization stimulates the translation fever in some light. With the deepening of China’s long-term policy of reform and opening up to the outside world and its access to WTO, translation talents are quite indispensable for these series of international drive. With the view to meet the current needs of the world, a large amount of foreign documents with different languages need to be translated; numerous international activities should be accompanied with well trained translators or interpreters. Besides, it is quite necessary for us to master more than one language and properly translate them into Chinese or in reverse. Language should not become a boundary for our country to exchange information with other countries and realize the modernization and globalization by and large.
Furthermore, studying translation is greatly beneficial for enlarging one’s scope of knowledge. It is known to us that the world is diversified and colorful; hence it is inevitable that there are some limitations in a country’s culture. Under such a scenario, one’s acquisition of several languages is certainly a great advantage to absorb more knowledge of foreign cultures. Simultaneously, we would enrich our established knowledge and be available to all-round requirements in the future in such a severe and challenging competition atmosphere. In Shanghai, for instance, there are large numbers of private language schools providing translation educations and charge high tuitions. They have attracted numerous people in all walks of life to attend the training classes. All learners are holding a purpose to be advantageous and become a translator or interpreter capable enough to survive in the cruel society.
Last but not least, by studying translation we can greatly improve our language ability. Translation is one of the musts while learning a foreign language. It is to test whether one has acquired both the target language and the original language. Additionally, standard translation requires of four basic elements, that is, collocation, grammar, compatibility to the context, and part of speech. All these four elements are difficult to maintain and one should further improve language learning and perfect his/her translation skills. At the same time, we will be more aware of the usage of vocabularies, coherence of sentences, organization of paragraphs and the passage as a whole.
In conclusion, I personally believe that translation industry will be a profitable industry in the near future.
