Section A Directions: In this
section, there is a passage with ten blanks. You are required to select one word
for each blank from a list of choices given in a word bank following the

I will depart China after three and a half years’
working here in the Chinese capital. I leave with (47)
feelings. On one hand, I look forward to (48) with
my family and friends in the United States. On the other hand, I know I will
sorely miss so much about China. Most importantly, I will
miss my many Chinese friends all across the country. The tremendous

I’ll miss the generosity and warmth of my Chinese friends-not to mention the
wonderful food! During the past three and a half years, my parents have visited
me twice and one of my sisters has come once. They were deeply moved by the
kindness of the Chinese people they met. As I leave China, on my family’s

miss many things about Beijing. I have often (51) on the
subway and buses and in taxis. Over the years, I have had countless discussions
with people I’ve met on the subway or bus or with taxi drivers. I’ve certainly
enjoyed these conversations and through them learned a lot about China. I
have (52) that Chinese spend a lot of time thinking about the
same kinds of questions Americans think about, such as how to provide the best
educational opportunities for their children. I’ll miss those conversations, and
I’ll take the knowledge I’ve gained from them back to the United States to
(53) with my family and friends. I will
also miss the little things that make Beijing the special place it is. the
famous Beijing“hutongs” and “siheyuan”and the closely-knit communities which
(54) them; the men and women who sing Peking opera at Tiantan
