Today’ s cars are already built with a kind of converter (转换器). When exhaust flows through this converter "box", a chemical inside breaks down the car’s pollutant (污染物质) into less harmful chemicals. But some pollutants still escape into the air to form smog (雾), which can bum your eyes, nose and throat, and make breathing painful.
