Subject: Illness at work
Recent research has suggested that November and December are the most likely times for an employee to become ill and take time off of work as a result. Therefore, as we approach this high-risk period, it is essential to review our company policy regarding illness.
First of all, employees should be encouraged to visit their local medical center to receive a flu shot. The flu is a serious illness that usually forces people out of work for several days at a time. All vaccinations are covered by the company’s health insurance scheme.
In the event that employees fall ill, provision is made for sick leave in their contracts. During the first five years of service to the company, all employees are permitted to take seven days of paid sick leave. Employees who have between six and nine years experience at the company are entitled to take nine days of paid sick leave, and all employees with more than ten years of service are given fourteen days.
After an absence of four consecutive days or more, employees must provide a doctor’s note on their return to work to present to their manager. If you have any inquiries about this policy, you can contact Billy Thornton in HR at 696-7852 or on extension 11.
