Two studies have been (1) _______ to examine people’s attitudes towards friendship in different cultures. In the first study, respondents were asked if they would (2) _______ their best friend was speeding when he or she was put on (3) _______ after speeding and hitting a (4) _______ . The result showed that while typical (5) _______ felt no strong (6) _______ to (7) _______ , Koreans felt a strong obligation to protect their friends. In the second study, students in five different cultures were asked to (8) _______ the friendship between two university classmates, Megan and Cheryl, with the latter trying to influence the former to be a better student. Students in France and the U.S. tended to regard it as an unhealthy friendship — they saw Cheryl as too (9) _______ . On the contrary, students in China, Spain and Cuba saw it in a positive way — they thought taking care of each other, (10) _______ in each other’s lives, helping them to become better people are normal friend behaviors.
